Add-on for European Air War by TheTonester, Aussie Jim and Crashin' Jack...(Original idea by Oberst Herr Shreck)

Special thanx go to the guys without whose help this would have never come to pass, or at the very least would not have been anywhere near as good.(IMHO)

And last but by no means least, Obherst Herr Shreck, who originally came up with the concept and the name and whose help and friendship i value greatly....

This is a 'what if' scenario that explores some improbable possibilities....so if ya hung up on history...the doors over there....
What if the Allies had landed at Dunkirk and pushed inland creating a huge pocket thru central France and then into Belgium..
What if the 'Bulge' offensive had been made across a broader front, and was overseen by a gaggle of new wonder planes, cooked up in hidden facilitys deep inside Germany....fast and powerful, tailor made for a new wave of 'Blitzkreig' attacks....at night!

Well i guess ya get the idea, there are a few odd plane and loadout choices, but if its gonna be fiction, we may as well have some fun with it..

The first stage is played in the 1940 slot...though begins in December 1944..(the squad description screen will say August, thats a limitation of the nite-patched Exe...in game the dates are correct)

There are 8 Luftwaffe Squadrons and 8 Allied Air Command Squadrons, all fictitious of course...the setup is as follows..

There are several airbase moves for most squadrons on both sides and some plane upgrades as well, but i'll let you find them for yaself.

The non flyable aircraft available in campaign mode are as follows.

In addition to this, the B-17 and B-24 are flyable in Single mission only(SEE SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO ENABLE THIS UNDER 'PROBS AND STUFF') as well if you feel like bombing some targets the hard way, of which there are plenty.
There are four new German bases in Holland and Germany and Caen has had a lil makeover. On the allied side there are three new targets including Dunkirk Harbour and Supply Airfield....also Wevelghem and Lille have some armored support added for fun.
Alot of the campaign phases are target based..i.e..you need to hit your primary targets to win...so be sure to take them out where you can before going on strafing runs.
Due to the somewhat limited scope of loadout selection provided by the game engine, I'VE DESIGNED THIS TO BE PLAYED FROM A POSITION OF RANK!!! so you have control over your own loadout at the very least, otherwise you get the occasional strange loadout when this is left to the game.

When hitting any of the 'new' targets available in the campaign, low and fast and make it count coz there is alot of ground fire down there and you may not get a second pass..

REASSEMBLY

Place all 18 files and the BAT joining file in a folder and double click the BAT file, this will create NACHTJAGER 1.01.exe

INSTALLATION

Place NACHTJAGER 1.01.exe into a clean EAW install and double click it. Tell the setup where you would like NACHTJAGER 1.01 to be installed (I.E C:\Program Files\Microprose Software\European Air War). Allow files to overwrite the ones in your Clean Eaw folder. You will need to update the included INI file with your joystick etc settings or use your own INI...just be sure to change the extra squad settings like so.....

PROBS AND STUFF

There are 2 EXE files(NEAW.EXE and DEAW.EXE) located in the folder EXES that will be in your Nachtjager folder...the DEAW one is for those who dont wish to fly at night, however this will alter the dates within the game. Ive not tested this with ANY OTHER EXE, so apply others at your own risk. The NEAW is to return the game to default NIGHT mode. To change the exe to day just rename DEAW as EAW and drop it into your Nachtjager folder. To return to default apply the same change to the NEAW file and drop it in.
To fly the B24 or B17 in single mission you must swap the two FLT files and the PLANES.dat file contained inside the SingleMissionBombers folder into your Nachtjager folder allowing them to overwrite the default files...THIS IS ONLY FOR SINGLE MISSION,WILL CAUSE PECULIAR THINGS TO HAPPEN IN CAMPAIGN MODE..YOU WERE WARNED!!!!  To return to default you copy the default files from the same folder in to overwrite what you have changed.
I plan to develop a Manager setup ala DUNKIRK to handle this in the future...hopefully will be available for an update or at least when phase two is ready.
There is no Breifing speech for one or two new targets, so do not be alarmed when you hear nothing-This may or may not be addressed in any future updates.
You may get the occasional mystery CTD (where no error message is given)...ive looked high and low for the cause of this and am convinced it relates to the patching of the exe for night missions. Just restart and all should be well. You may occasionally(depending on your graphics setup) get a scrambled cockpit..if this happens just lower your ground object detail settings in the config area to medium...usually cures it.
Also occasionally you will be assigned a mission at one in the morning and it will be broad daylight, havent been able to find the reason for this, but am pretty sure its also patching related.
You will find that one plane mentioned in the single mission screen(as a secondary plane) is not there at all, The Vampire.... I am hoping this will be available for updating soon or in phase two when its released(created lol)
The flyable He 219 has a small prop prob...if you start the left engine and you are outside the plane, both props fire up giving the impression that engine 2 is running, however if you look in cockpit view you will see it is not. Be sure to always start BOTH engines with this plane.

Try this out for fun, load your German plane of choice with SD2 bomblets (where poss.) and release them above a flight of allied bombers.....the carnage is most impressive.
